Located 0.8 miles (1.3 km) north of Norris Junction.

DESCRIPTION

CLOSED IN 2024. This campground–elevation 7,500 feet (2,286 m)–is located near a large open meadow, which provides opportunity for wildlife viewing. Bison frequently walk through the campground. Most sites are shaded by lodgepole pine. The Museum of the National Park Ranger is a quick walk from the campground, as are Norris Geyser Basin Museum and Norris Geyser Basin--the hottest and most changeable thermal area in Yellowstone. This is a reservable campground run by the National Park Service.

WEATHER INFO

Yellowstone's weather can vary greatly within a day and throughout the park. Snow can fall every month of the year. Summer highs reach 70–80°F (25–30°C) during the day, but nights can be cool (and it may freeze at higher elevations). During spring and fall, daytime highs range from 30–60°F (0–20°C), with overnight lows below freezing.
