WEATHER INFO

Located on Mount Desert Island in Maine, Acadia experiences all four seasons. Summer temperatures range from 45-90F (7-30C). Fall temperatures range from 30-70F (-1-21C). Typically the first frost is in mid-October and first snowfall begins in November and can continue through April with an average accumulation of 73 inches (185 cm). Winter temperatures range from 14-35F (-10 - 2C). Spring temperatures range from 30-70F (-1-21C).

From Boston take I-95 north to Augusta, Maine, then Route 3 east to Ellsworth, and on to Mount Desert Island. For an alternate route, continue on I-95 north to Bangor, Maine, then take I-395 to U.S. Route 1A east to Ellsworth. In Ellsworth, take Route 3 to Mount Desert Island.

PARK CLOSURE

West end of Seal Cove Road closed for paving Thu June 12

The Town of Tremont will close its portion (0.14 mile) of Seal Cove Road at the west end for paving Thu June 12. Traffic will be able to enter the park via Seal Cove Road from the east end in Southwest Harbor but will not be able to exit at the west end.

PARK CLOSURE

Bubbles Divide Trail closed for repairs Mondays through Thursdays

Mondays through Thursdays until further notice, from 6 am to 4:30 pm, a 0.3-mile segment of the Bubbles Divide Trail will be closed from Jordan Pond Path to the Bubbles trail intersection. The Trail Crew is moving large rocks to stabilize the trail.

Several trails closed for Peregrine falcon nesting season

For Peregrine falcon nesting season, Penobscot East Trail, Jordan Cliffs Trail, Precipice Trail, and Valley Cove Trail are closed until further notice, typically in mid-August. Also, the Precipice Trail parking lot is closed.
