WAWEATHER INFO
Summers tend to be fair and warm, with high temperatures between 65 and 75 degrees F. July, August and September are the driest months, with heavier precipitation during the rest of the year. While winters are mild at lower elevation, snowfall can be heavy in the mountains. It is common for different weather conditions to exist within the park at the same time. At any time of year, visitors should come prepared for a variety of conditions.

Campfire Restrictions Begin July 11
Due to dry conditions, high fire danger, and the number of interagency resources already dedicated to active incidents, campfires in Olympic National Park and Olympic National Forest will be restricted to established fire rings starting at 12 am July 11.

Staircase Area Closed due to Bear Gulch Fire
The Staircase area and campground are closed due to the Bear Gulch Fire in Olympic National Forest. The fire is burning on a steep, rocky slope near the Mt. Rose Trailhead along the Lake Cushman Corridor (FS-24).

South Shore Road Closed
South Shore Road – which is maintained by Jefferson County – is closed due to a major wash-out. The Graves Creek and North Fork Trailheads and Campgrounds cannot be reached via N Shore Rd due to essential repair work that began on July 9.

A section of N Shore Rd near mile 10.2 is closed to all traffic so crews can fortify the actively eroding road and ensure long-term access. The Quinault Ranger Station is open. For Graves Creek and North Fork areas, see S Shore Rd alert.
