There are four distinct seasons in Voyageur country. During June, July, and August periods of fine, mild weather prevail. The frost-free season averages 120 days from June to mid-September. The average ice-out date is May 3. The first measurable snowfall occurs in late October and the last in late April or early May.

Campfire ban lifted parkwide
Effective August 24, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., the National Park Service has lifted campfire restrictions in Voyageurs National Park due to cooler weather and a lower risk of wildfire. The lifting of these fire restrictions aligns with changes made by the U.S. Forest Service in the Superior National Forest and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
PARK CLOSURE
Dryweed Island Area Closure for Campsites, Houseboat Sites, and Day Use
Campsites, houseboat sites, and the day use sites are closed on Dryweed Island and nearby sites due to unsafe bear‑human interactions. Affected locations include Breakwater Cove, Dryweed Island, Harrison Bay, Makinen Point, Mio Beach, Stones Point, Loon Cove, Rock Shelf, Lyle Mine Island, Tango Channel, and Harrison Bay E.
